This afternoon was an exciting one!
On a whim, I had fixed up an appointment to have an ULM experience at the FlyLee ULM and Hang Gliding School . The airfield is located at Hwaseong City, about 35 km from my home.
By the time I reach the place, it is about 3 pm. Had a small introduction with Mr JungDae Lee, the owner, and a couple of his friends. Looks like I was the first Indian to go there! He enquired if I feared heights! I mentioned my staying away from roller coasters. It was time to put on my suit (felt like an astronaut!). And, with the experienced owner of the school at the controls, I didn't have much to fear. I was assured that in the event of engine stopping mid-air, we could safely glide down!

It was quite unlike me to go for a flying trip! I had gotten tired of the mundaneness hovering over me, and needed a change to get some energy. I find it much easier to go off and do my thing without looking around for company. With my improving Korean skills, it was much easier to go there on my own. And, good that I went!
It was a quick take off-after the simple instructions on how to sit and what not to do. Soon we reached about 1700 ft and the speedometer said 80 kmph. The winds were probably making it feel like we were at higher speeds. At times, I lifted the helmet's shield to feel the winds! There were rice fields, sea water around...this air strip and nearby fields were on reclaimed land! So beautiful. Overall I felt calmer than I expected!
Who knows? I may get addicted to the flying experience!
