Subway, Suwon Branch

This is a quickie post!

Another Vegetarian option - Subway.

Found a branch of Subway at Suwon.

It is located near Ajou University.

Even though for vegetarians, there is just one choice - Veggie Delite( 베지), considering that there are various choices of brea, fillings, sauces, we can get quite a few options! These days am into wellbeing food and that was the reason I went around looking for Subway as an option.

While ordering for my sandwich, I requested mayonnaise not to be used. Apart from that, gave the person at the counter a free run for fillings and sauces.The result was a yummy and filling sandwich!

There is another experiment that I am doing these days. Surviving in Korea without cooking at home and being a vegetarian! That is an experiment restricted to weekends and until my wife returns from her long vacation!

An experience of ULM (Ultra Light Motorized) Flying

This afternoon was an exciting one!

On a whim, I had fixed up an appointment to have an ULM experience at the FlyLee ULM and Hang Gliding School . The airfield is located at Hwaseong City, about 35 km from my home.

By the time I reach the place, it is about 3 pm. Had a small introduction with Mr JungDae Lee, the owner, and a couple of his friends. Looks like I was the first Indian to go there! He enquired if I feared heights! I mentioned my staying away from roller coasters. It was time to put on my suit (felt like an astronaut!). And, with the experienced owner of the school at the controls, I didn't have much to fear. I was assured that in the event of engine stopping mid-air, we could safely glide down!

It was quite unlike me to go for a flying trip! I had gotten tired of the mundaneness hovering over me, and needed a change to get some energy. I find it much easier to go off and do my thing without looking around for company. With my improving Korean skills, it was much easier to go there on my own. And, good that I went!

It was a quick take off-after the simple instructions on how to sit and what not to do. Soon we reached about 1700 ft and the speedometer said 80 kmph. The winds were probably making it feel like we were at higher speeds. At times, I lifted the helmet's shield to feel the winds! There were rice fields, sea water around...this air strip and nearby fields were on reclaimed land! So beautiful. Overall I felt calmer than I expected!

Who knows? I may get addicted to the flying experience!

Loving Hut -Yongin (Vegan Restaurant)

Looks like this blog is turning into a vegan/vegetarian blog!

Yesterday evening, I wanted to have some Korean food. The fact that, save for the rare occasions, I have not had as much experience of Korean cuisine as I would like to have, continues to rankle me.

Based on internet searches for vegetarian options in Korea, I was aware of the Loving Hut chain of vegan restaurants serving vegan Korean cuisine. Yet, it took me so long to want to have food there. The nearest branch for someone living in Suwon is the Jukjeon branch.

I was pleasantly surprised to be given a menu which had items written in English.

I ordered Soybean paste stew(된장찌개). So happy to have finally eaten! I found it delicious. Someone who has eaten the version that is served in restaurants would probably know the difference in taste, if any.
